Side table

No matter how well designed a product might be, there will always be a discrepancy in this uncertainty between designer and user. It is a matchmaking game, where the designer will never have the last word (or even hear of it) after the user has taken the product into the world, their world.

With a round table as a starting point, I have extracted a set of generic forms that possibly can serve more than just a table. The aim was to offer more functions to a table by altering its components for a variety of imaginary situations. But who am I to anticipate these? Could the intended cup holder instead be seen as a metaphor for the inevitable gap between me as a creator and you as a user?
